OSBCU Bargaining Update #26
OSBCU 2022 Bargaining Update #26
As of 5pm tonight, your OSBCU bargaining team has requested a “No Board report”
A No Board report is the next step in the legal bargaining process and a requirement prior to reaching a legal strike position. We will be providing you with ample notice of when job action could commence in accordance with legislation.
We are calling on the government & employers to provide more dates in order to reach a negotiated settlement – that is the best plan for all parties. We are available to meet at any time.
It is time for them to get serious & respect your demands. Students & families deserve guarantees of staffing levels & services and you, as workers deserve a significant wage increase.
Your voice has been heard by your bargaining team – we will continue to amplify it at the table & encourage you to use it within your community.

OSBCU 2022 Bargaining Update #25
This morning, rather than a written response to our reasonable proposals, the government & school boards asked us to make “dramatic & substantial changes” to our bargaining package.
As workers, you have been clear in what your expectations are of the bargaining committee – you need real gains.
In the absence of a serious proposal from the employer we will have reached an impasse in negotiations.
We are still at the table, however, without the government and school boards making a reasonable response to what we have tabled, we will be forced to request a “No Board Report”.
We will provide more information, as it becomes available.

OSBCU 2022 Bargaining Update #24
Today was day one of our two day block of bargaining dates.
We began the day reminding the government & school boards of the overwhelming support that you as workers have given the bargaining team as well as the clear rejection that you also gave of their proposals.
Again the government and school boards stalled.
We did sign off on the following:
Education Worker Diverse & Inclusive Workforce Committee
Ministry Initiative Committee
Provincial Working Group for Health & Safety
While these committees are important, they aren’t the main issues that you as workers need addressed.
We have, through the conciliation officer, requested, by tomorrow morning, a written response on the key issues that matter to you: wages, service security, benefits & staffing levels.
We will provide an additional update tomorrow.

OSBCU Bargaining Update #23 – Strike Vote Results
OSBCU 2022 Bargaining Update #23
The results are in! 45433 members participated in the OSBCU Central Strike Vote – 82.6% – A Supermajority!
These workers also gave the OSBCU Central Bargaining Committee a 96.5% Yes Vote for the Strike Mandate!
It is clear that not only is worker power growing in our workplaces throughout the province, but that workers are clearly saying YES to a government and the employers who continue to say NO!
We will return to the bargaining table this Thursday with the strong mandate!

Sister, Brothers, and Comrades, Here is a list of Reasons Why we must Vote Yes in the Strike Vote. This Government isn’t willing to budge and we can no longer sit quiet!!!
OSBCU Bargaining Update #21
OSBCU 2022 Bargaining Update #21
Today was a very frustrating day. We did spend more time directly bargaining with the employer & government, due to the participation of the conciliation officer. However it was clear that the focus of the CTA & government was administrative issues in the collective agreement rather than addressing the key topics that directly impact you, your families, your students & your communities.
We will be back at the bargaining table on Tuesday & Wednesday next week.
It has become very clear that this government and our school boards need to see and feel the power building with workers to move them to respond to your proposals which, if accepted, would secure services for students & improve wages & working conditions for each of you.
Your participation in the strike vote is the visible sign of power.

OSBCU 2022 Bargaining Update #20
Today we received the appointment of our conciliation officer by the Ministry of Labour. Your OSBCU Bargaining Team will be meeting with the appointed officer on September 15, prior to our next meeting date with the government and school board representatives on September 16, 2022.
We have made it clear that additional dates with commitments to negotiate are needed. We continue to offer full availability to ensure this takes place.
